I just wanted to say what was already obvious in that we have one party that claiming that the other party is taking away our rights. I just wanted to be clear and let me know that this works both ways. The Republican Party wants to control the human body, biopolitics, is what they call this. I don't understand why they are obsessed with the body and sex. They want to control who you lay down with, when you can have a child, who you can marry, to mean this is the highest level of hypocrisy. Unfortunately women and gays are their victims.
What is it that the Catholic church feel they have the moral high ground to come out over contraception and getting into what people do in their bedrooms with their own bodies? Ok, I can agree with the current argument about making an institution do something that is not in their beliefs ok. However, the church is functioning within the sovereign state, not in a Venn-diagram where they fall outside the rule of government which is the rule of the people? So having said this, the Church ideology can very well be extended to we are not going to hire homosexuals, we are not going to hire people who have had abortions, we are not going to provide this or not because we do not believe in it.
I don't want to bash the church, but it does seem hypocritical that the Church is crying about their freedom. If anybody had any sense, the Catholic church should have no freedom with the past and current history of sexual abuse of young children in the church. So lets don't forget this. If the church was a person, who would have locked them up, so I think that the Church should spend less time in politics and more time cleaning their act up and figuring out how to appeal to younger people so that the church can survive and thrive for years to come instead of polarizing people. The Republicans feel that polarization will help them increase their turnout, but what is the Republican Party going to do in 10 years when the demographics are very different? This goes for the Church too. The more anybody or any institution tells you that you can't do this or that you run the risk of that very same person doing the opposite. It is like a teenage child.
